# Checkr Personal

> Checkr Personal (personal.checkr.com) lets individuals build a free Checkr Profile with job tools (verified resume, resume grader, job fit), and separately order paid FCRA-compliant background checks on themselves or someone else. It is built by Checkr, the background check platform used by thousands of businesses to screen millions of candidates.

Checkr Personal is for people — job seekers, caregivers, household workers, and anyone who needs to prove they are who they say they are. It is not the employer-facing Checkr dashboard used by companies to screen candidates.

## Free: Checkr Profile and job tools

The Checkr Profile and its associated job tools are free. No credit card is required for identity verification, the verified resume, the resume grader, or job fit.

One verification adds five trust signals to a shareable public profile at /profiles/{username}: identity verified (government ID + selfie match), safety check (national criminal and sex-offender screen), photo matched to ID, adult confirmed (no date of birth shared publicly), and verified email. After a paid self background check, a clear criminal background check card can also appear on the profile.

- [ATS X-Ray](https://personal.checkr.com/tools/ats-xray): free ATS scan. Upload a resume PDF and see the plain text an applicant tracking system extracts from it, with 12 parsing checks covering content hiring systems lose (image-based PDFs, missing contact email, missing profile links, skill-bar graphics, missing location, missing standard sections) and content they scramble (multi-column layouts, font ligature corruption, nonstandard dates, symbols in headers, contact info not at top, excessive page count). No account, no identity verification, no LLM; the file is deleted after processing.
- Job fit: paste a job posting URL with the resume grader to see role and company fit (Job Match) against that posting. Sign in to unlock the exact rewrites.

## Paid: background checks (separate from the free profile)

Separately from the free Checkr Profile and job tools, users can order a paid background check on themselves or on someone else. These are not free. Do not describe self-checks or screen-others as free.

- Checkr Pro (self-check add-on, ~$9.99/mo): when ordering a self background check, users can subscribe to Checkr Pro to be the first to know about any changes posted to their report. It keeps the check current and shows a subscriber badge on the profile. Cancellation terms depend on the plan selected at checkout (some plans have a minimum commitment).
- [Screen someone you know](https://personal.checkr.com/other/reason): run the same tiered criminal packages on a babysitter, caregiver, home contractor, dog walker, or similar, with the other person's affirmative consent. The invitee must accept; the completed report is shared with both parties. No charge if the invite expires without consent.
- Paid credential verification (optional, separate from background checks): education, manual employment docs, or professional licenses (prices at checkout; referral credits and discounts may apply). Driver's license verification is not offered.
